A proposed ordinance which would have increased the system development charges (SDCs) for the City of Puyallup went before City Council for a second reading on May 24, 2016.  The current/proposed SDCs are:
    • Water:
      • Current: $3,130
      • Proposed: $3,530
    • Sewer:
      • Current: $4,520
      • Proposed: $4,880
    • Storm:
      • Current: $1,760
      • Proposed: $2,950
The changes are based off of a report that was prepared by a third party consultant back in November of 2010.  The report used methodology that included improvements dating as far back as 1908, with a stated value inflated to 2010 dollars, as being 100% SDC eligible in the calculation of the proposed SDCs.  MBA members and staff attended the City Council meeting on May 24th and successfully delayed the adoption of this ordinance in order to give time for the building industry to work with city staff to conduct a more in depth review of the report.  The ordinance will be up for consideration again on June 28, 2016.
