Mary Bridge Festival of Trees- Designer Day
They bring their staff, skills and most importantly a sense of humor.
"One year, we had to rebuild the roof of a playhouse so it opened on one side," said Rick Hjelm of Phase II General Contractors "Otherwise we would have had to install a sprinkler system."
Since 2000, members of the MBA's Remodelors™ Council have volunteered to help designers put together their visions for the Mary Bridge Festival of Trees Designer Day. This year the Council brought over 50 volunteers to the Tacoma Convention Center to help designers with their trees. The festival had over 65 trees that needed to be put together that day."
The Council sets up a staging/assembly area in a corner of the room and works on various projects. Some projects this year included putting together a sauna, building a wall and window, and correcting tree platforms.
"We do it because it's the right thing to do," said Rick. "All of us have had children sick at the hospital at some time and we realize this is a great way to give back."
